Speaking of Mergers

Well, if the US and Australia merged, we could put the Federal capital in a nice central place like Honolulu.

Meanwhile, here's a place that actually has a movement wanting to merge with the USA. Best thing about the idea: it would drive Hugo Chavez crazy!

While we're at it, how about adding Grenada, Barbados, and Trinidad? Offshore balancing, indeed!

Call me crazy, but I just don't see the benefit to having a land frontier in South America.

You might want to cut a Compact of Free Association with Guyana (as we've done with the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas) rather than statehood, with a provision that only documented native-born Guyanese have the right to come to the US. This would prevent it from becoming a backdoor for illegal immigrants.
